Schedules

I love all things Ashley and Angie!  These ladies are AMAZING!!  A few weeks ago they had a #2getherwearebetter giveaway, and it was amazing!!  Every night they posted a video on their Facebook pages and let us into their lives!  Then they had a $1 deal every day for us, and then had an AMAZING giveaway!

Did I say, they are also the kindest, sweetest ladies EVER!!  Ashley was one of the first bloggers that I started following, and buying things from!  She was one of the only people I had talked to about being in Vegas last summer, and I was so excited that she was rooming with Angie and that I was able to meet Angie and hang out with her for a little bit too!!

I am so excited that they will both be in Vegas again this summer, and that I will be able to spend MORE time with them this summer since I will be attending the TPT conference!!  YES!!  #tptvegas2015 #isitjulyyet

I was EVEN more excited when I heard about their amazing blog linky party!  I knew that I had to join forces with them, because they are so right #2getherwearebetter.  I shared here about how happy I am that I have the opportunity to share with all of these amazing teachers!

I know, you might be asking why are we talking about schedules at the end of the year?  But this makes me so excited because I love working on my schedule over the summer and trying to iron things out!  I love trying to figure out how I am going to do things, where I am going to fit it in, and starting to get ahead!!  I have big plans for the summer, and seeing everyone's schedules are totally going to help with that!!

Here is a copy of my schedule that I send home with my parents.

Our parents like knowing where their child is at all times, so we have to give very detailed schedules. I also know that I am very blessed with the amount of specials I have.  All the times in green are when my kids are with other teachers, so those are our prep times.  Now, before you think I have a lot of free time, I go to recess with my kids every day, eat lunch with my kids every day, and wait with them after school until 3:15 for pick up.

I know I am blessed with many specials, but I do miss eating lunch with adults or even having a free moment to use the restroom!  Luckily we take turns, and I love the relationship that I am able to build with my students, and fourth grade students during this time.

Okay, so here is a little more look into my day!!

Religion - I LOVE teaching religion!  We teach it four days a week, and have chapel on Wednesdays!  I have started creating my own interactive notebooks so that way my students and I can dive into the bible a little more!!  Right now we are workmen on our Easter notebook!

On Thursdays we do our Thankful Cards, and I LOVE THEM!!  The kids have a great variety of cards so far, and at the end of the year they'll have a great take home of what they've been thankful for this year!

Math - I use many, many, many different resources for math!  My school uses the Saxon textbook, but I don't teach from it.  I use the lessons to help me pick my centers for the week.  We also use it for our nightly homework, and weekly tests.

I have many sets of math task cards in my own store that I use, but of course I use Angie's interactive notebooks too!!  They are awesome and my kids love them!  We use them as a tool to reinforce the skills we've gone over.

Language Arts - During my language arts block I use a Daily 5 model.  I LOVE it!  I was lucky enough to attend a Daily 5 conference back in 2013 and it changed the way I teach!

I love being able to read aloud to my kids every day, and we spend a lot of time looking at different texts.  We read a variety of picture books, and a variety of chapter books.  Our favorites have been The Book With No Pictures, Gossamer, and The Twits.

We have used a variety of tools to keep tracking of our reading and reading strategies.  I love these reading response sheets from Ashley!!

We work on our spelling during this time too, and we use lots of different ways to practice our spelling and vocabulary words.  I use the sight words in the beginning of the year, and then make my lists based on spelling rules.  I also keep track of the words that my students have misspelled, and retest them on these words.

For my science and social studies units I go more in depth so I expand outside of my book!  I also make supplemental materials to go with my textbooks.

I have created both a life science and changes in technology notebook!  It was a fun way for us to practice and make sure we knew the material before we took our tests.

Thank you so much for checking out my schedule, and I hope that you were able to get some new ideas!  I can't wait to start working on next year's schedule!  Hopefully it will have BIG changes coming to it!

  3. I just loved your "thankful cards." I know it's hard as a teacher to "fit it all in" and social skills/reflections can be hard to fit in! You seem like an A.W.E.S.O.M.E. teacher!!

  4. Girl, you never cease to make us feel AMAZING! You always know how to, as Ashley says, FILL OUR BUCKETS! We love you for that! I think it's interesting that you teach religion in your classroom. We have something called Release Time on Wednesday afternoons and our students all get on the bus and go around to the different churches in town to be taught an hour of religious instruction from their Sunday School teachers. It's really a nice time for the kids AND teachers as we get an extra hour prep on Wednesdays! Thanks for the sweet shout out about my interactive notebooks. You are just a doll!

  5. I love your Thankful board! The Religion lessons sound amazing. I wish we could incorporate that more, but it's not going to happen in a public school. I still have the Bible I used to use many years ago for a reading every morning. Sadly, now we have a moment of silence, but prayer is never mentioned! Thanks for sharing all your things!
